Gouguenheim Estaciones del Valle Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 (Argentina)
$12.95 (Vintages #194290)
Something other than Malbec from Argentina. This Cabernet Sauvignon is deep ruby in colour with a nose of cedar and blackcurrants. On the palate it has well-extracted sweet blackberry and blackcurrant flavours tinged with oak. The mouth feel is soft and full with a tannic lift on the finish to give it structure. Good value. **** (88)
Food match: roast lamb; Brix chocolate

Stone Dwellers Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 (Strathbogie Ranges, Australia)
$19.95 (LCBO #212761)
A well-crafted Cab that offers great varietal character. Deep ruby in colour with a nose of cedar and blackcurrants laced with sweet spices. It's medium- to full-bodied; the sweetness of the blackcurrant fruit is carried on a fine spine of acidity that gives the wine good persistence in the mouth. ****½ (89)
Food match: roast lamb; beef casserole

Dr. Hermann Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese 2006 (Mosel)
$22.95 (Vintages #197178)
Just the wine to usher in summer. Straw coloured with a hint of lime; minerally, honey, floral nose with a petrol note; sweet and tart flavours or peach, honey and tangerine acidity; lovely mouth feel and great balance. ***** (90)
Food match: aperitif wine; pork loin
