Gouguenheim Estaciones del Valle Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Malbec may be synonymous with Argentina, but here's something different from that region: a Cabernet Sauvignon with a name that sounds like a museum. Gouguenheim Estaciones del Valle Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 is deep ruby in colour with a nose of cedar and blackcurrants. On the palate it has well-extracted sweet blackberry and blackcurrant flavours tinged with oak. The mouth feel is soft and full with a tannic lift on the finish to give it structure. Great value at $12.95 from Vintages outlets. Try it with roast lamb. That's Gouguenheim Estaciones del Valle Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 from Argentina. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680 News.com ($12.95, Vintages #194290)

De Bortoli Family Selection Traminer Riesling 2009
If you're looking for a wine to usher in summer, here's a recommendation from Australia: De Bortoli Family Selection Traminer Riesling 2009. This blend of Riesling and Gewurztraminer is pale straw in colour with an aromatic, minerally nose of grapefruit, lychee and oriental spices; it's off-dry and surprisingly elegant for the price, with honeyed grapefruit, peach and lavender flavours. It costs $12.95 at the LCBO. Try it with spicy dishes like Thai cuisine or chilled as an aperitif. That's De Bortoli Family Selection Traminer Riesling 2009 from Australia. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680 News.com. ($12.95, LCBO #207381)
