  • McWilliam's Hanwood Estate Moscato

J.P. Vinhos Tinto da Anfora 2008 (Alentejo, Portugal)
$11.95 (LCBO #227256)
Great value here. A blend of Aragonez, Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Alfrocheiro and Cabernet Sauvignon vinified in huge clay amphorae. Deep purple colour; a sweet nose of violets and mulberries; medium-bodied, elegant, perfumed, flavours of blackcurrant and spice. ****½ (89)
Food match: braised short ribs; manchego

J.P. Chenet Premier de Cuvée Merlot Cabernet 2009 (Pays d'Oc)
$11.95 (LCBO #621995)
Deep ruby-purple colour; spicy, red berry nose; medium-bodied, soft and fruity with cocoa-like notes; simple and easy drinking with soft tannins. ***½ (86)
Food match: hamburger; pizza

McWilliam's Hanwood Estate Moscato (Australia)
$12.95 until May 22nd, then $13.95 (LCBO #212696)
The perfect summer sipper. The bouquet of orange blossom and honey suggests sweetness but the wine has a grapey, cidery flavour that finishes freshly in the mouth. Chill it well and serve it as an aperitif wine.. **** (87)
Food match: strawberry shortcake; apple flan
