Southbrook Connect Rosé 2010 (Ontario)
$18.95 (LCBO #168492)
This is not your run-of-the-mill rosé. Deep pink with an orange tint, it has a nose of strawberry compote and flavours of strawberries and redcurrants. Full in the mouth with a touch of sweetness in mid-palate, it has enough citrus acidity to finish dry and clean. **** (88)
Food match: grilled ham; roast chicken

Gunderloch Fritz's Riesling 2009 (Rheinhessen)
$13.95 (Vintages #216366)
Winemaker Fritz Hasselbach has fashioned a bargain-priced Riesling without sacrificing quality. Deeply coloured with a spicy peach bouquet, the wine is medium-bodied, off-dry with flavours of honey, peach and lime. It really fills the palate. ****½ (89)
Food match: pork chop; Thai dishes

Wild Rock Cupid's Arrow Pinot Noir 2008 (Central Otago, New Zealand)
$21.95 (Vintages #61242)
Burgundy on steroids. Light purple colour with a nose of raspberries, tomato leaf and rust; medium-bodied, elegant, dry with raspberry and dark chocolate flavours. A long, lingering finish. ***** (90)
Food match: duck breast; grilled Portobello mushrooms
