Southbrook Connect Rosé 2010
I've always thought that Ontario could make world-class rosé and in a couple of cases we do. Southbrook Connect Rosé 2010 is not your run-of-the-mill pink wine at $18.95 a bottle. This one is deep pink with an orange tint. It has a nose of strawberry compote and flavours of strawberries and redcurrants. Full in the mouth with a touch of sweetness in mid-palate, it has enough citrus acidity to finish dry and clean. Serve it with chicken salad or grilled ham. That's Southbrook Connect Rosé 2010 from Ontario. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680.com. ($18.95 (LCBO #168492)

Gunderloch Fritz's Riesling 2009
In Germany's Rheinhessen region winemaker Fritz Hasselbach has fashioned a bargain-priced Riesling without sacrificing quality. Deeply coloured with a spicy peach bouquet, the wine is medium-bodied, off-dry with flavours of honey, peach and lime. For $13.95 from Vintages outlets it really fills the palate and is a delicious summer drink. Serve it with pork chops or Thai dishes. That's Gunderloch Fritz's Riesling 2009 from Germany. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680.com. ($13.95, Vintages #216366)
