Cupcake Vineyards Chardonnay 2010
How can you resist a wine called Cupcake Vineyards Chardonnay? Those guys in California's Central Valley really know how to market a wine. First of all, the price: $14.95. Then there's the taste, which must have been focus-grouped like crazy to come up with a profile that's as much of a commercial crowd-pleaser as this. It's light straw in colour with a buttery, pineapple nose enhanced with a touch of oak; sweet and spicy with a peachy-pineapple flavour, it's full on the palate with a tangerine-like finish. Try it with roast chicken or as an easy-drinking party wine. That's Cupcake Vineyards Chardonnay 2010 from California. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. De Martino Legado Reserva Carménère 2008
Carménère is Chile's flagship grape that is not always the best representative of that country's quality wines. But here's an excellent example worthy of your attention: De Martino Legado Reserva Carménère 2008. This wine, grown in the Maipo Valley, is densely coloured with a nose of blackcurrants and spicy oak with a note of new leather. It's dry and fruit-driven with fresh acidity. You'll find it at Vintages outlets at $15.95. Serve it with steak or lamb. That's De Martino Legado Reserva Carménère 2008 from Chile.
