E&J Gallo Barefoot Moscato (California)
$9.95 (LCBO #234351)
The cotton candy of wines. Light straw colour; aromatic, orange, orange blossom and honey nose; grapey flavour with a light spritz, sweet but not cloying. Well made, dances on the palate and well priced. **** (87)
Food match: aperitif; fresh berries

Southbrook Organic Red Connect 2011 (Ontario)
$14.95 (LCBO #249565)
A Bordeaux-style blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc. Deep ruby colour with a complex nose of vanilla oak, cedar and blackcurrant with a floral note; medium-bodied, fruity, fresh with currant flavours backed by vanilla oak and finishing with soft tannins. Good value. **** (88)
Food match: lamb burger; veal

Southbrook Poetica Chardonnay 2009 (Ontario)
$50 (from the winery – 1-905-641-2548)
A magnificent Chardonnay that comes on like a Chassagne-Montrachet. Deep straw colour; spicy, Burgundian nose, touch of barnyard, apple; ripe and full on the palate, generous, toasty, spicy, orange, pineapple and melon flavours. Great balance and length. (92)
Food match: lobster; salmon
