680News wine reviews – June 22–24, 2012

Concha y Toro Trio Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Chile's cooler valleys produce first rate Sauvignon Blanc. A great example is Concha y Toro Trio Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2011 from Casablanca, Limari and Rapel Valleys. Pale, almost water white, the wine offers a nose of elderberries and green leaves. It fairly dances on the palate with a tart gooseberry flavour. Very refreshing. It costs $13.95 a bottle at Vintages. Just the job for Caesar salad or goat's cheese. That's Concha Y Toro Trio Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2011 from Chile. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($13.95, Vintages #678656)

Abanico Tempestad Godello 2010
Godello is an aromatic grape grown in the Galicia region of north west Spain. Written, it looks like Godello, and it produces fragrant wines that are ideal for summer drinking. Just released at Vintages is Abanico Tempestad Godello 2010. This full-bodied wine has an intense nose of spicy melon and wild flowers; it's full on the palate with dry, musk melon and lemon flavours. It costs $17.95 a bottle. Try it with shellfish. That's Abanico Tempestad Godello 2010 from Spain. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($17.95, Vintages #276071)
