This well made, inexpensive Riesling recently won the Andrew S. Brandt Trophy at this year's Cuvée for Best General List White Wine at the LCBO. Pale colour with a lemony, grapefruit nose; medium-bodied, crisp and fresh with a citrus and green apple flavour. Good length. ***½
Food match: aperitif wine, shrimp cocktail

Tribal Sauvignon Blanc Colombard 2002 (South Africa)

They don't come much better than this for the price. The varietal character of these two grapes sings through. Almost water white in colour; expressive nose of guava, nettles and green beans; quince and elderberry flavour that sustains along its length. Great value. ***½
Food match: goat's cheese, grilled sardines.

Lungarotti Castel Grifone Rosato 2002 (Umbria)

A rosé for all occasions at a bargain price – a blend of Sangiovese and Canaiolo. Deep pink colour; medium-bodied, dry with a a strawberry flaovur. Frizzante note gives it freshness. Chill before serving. Good value. ***
