680News wine reviews – August 3–5, 2012

Jackson-Triggs Chardonnay Black Label Reserve 2011
Jackson-Triggs, the Niagara winery, has recently put on the market a bargain-priced Black Label series. Their Chardonnay 2011 is an impressive wine for the price. Medium straw in colour, it has a spicy apple nose with a hint of vanilla oak; it's medium-bodied, soft and creamy on the palate with a sweetness in mid palate and a peachy flavour. Good value at $11.95. You can pair it up with grilled seafood or camembert cheese. That's Jackson-Triggs Chardonnay Black Label Reserve 2011. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com ($11.95, LCBO #526251)

Red Knot Shiraz 2010
Here's an ideal candidate for the BBQ if you like your meat with a spicy marinade. Red Knot Shiraz 2010 from Australia is dense purple in colour with an expressive nose of spicy blackberry and dark chocolate; it's medium to full-bodied with flavours of licorice, smoke and black fruits with a floral grace note; its soft tannic finish means it's ready for drinking. It costs $17.95 at Vintages outlets. That's Red Knot Shiraz 2010 from Australia. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($17.95, LCBO #619395)
