680News wine reviews – August 24–26, 2012

Michel Torino Don David Finca La Primavera No. 3 Torrontes 2011
Torrontes is an Argentinean white grape that tastes rather like a dry Muscat. Currently at Vintages outlets is a wine which is as much of a mouthful to pronounce as it is to taste. Michel Torino Don David Finca La Primavera No. 3 Torrontes 2011 is bright straw in colour with a bouquet of orange blossom, grapefruit and cardamom. It's crisply dry with orange and peach flavours and great length. It costs $16.95 at Vintages outlets. Serve it as an aperitif or with Thai food. That's Michel Torino Don David Finca La Primavera No.3 Torrontes 2011 from Argentina. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($16.95, Vintages #285999)

MAN Vintners Tormentoso Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2011
Chenin Blanc is South Africa's signature white grape. It used to be called Steen. An excellent example of the variety at a bargain price – currently a Vintages – is MAN Vintners Tormentoso Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2011. It's straw coloured with a nose of quince, oak and that smoky note when you strike flint stones together. It's medium-bodied, dry, elegant and well balanced. The price – $14.95 at Vintages outlets. Try it with fish or seafood. That's MAN Vintners Tormentoso Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2011 from South Africa at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($14.95. Vintages #278366)
