680News wine reviews – August 31–September 2, 2012

Cantele Riserva Salice Salentino 2008
Puglia, at the heel of Italy's boot, produces great value red wines. Now at vintages is Cantele Riserva Salice Salentino 2008, made from Negroamaro grapes with 15% Malvasia Nera. The wine is dense purple-black with a spicy nose of black cherries and oak. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it's dry with cherry and tobacco flavours and a firm finish. Great value at $13.95. Ideal for barbecued meats. That's Cantele Riserva Salice Salentino 2008 from Italy at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($13.95, Vintages #724328)

Schloss Reinhartshausen Hattenheimer Wisselbrunnen Riesling Kabinett 2009
My wine recommendation today is a German wine with a long name – Schloss Reinhartshausen Hattenheimer Wisselbrunnen Riesling Kabinett 2009. Let's parse that: Schloss Reinhartshausen is the winery name; Hattenheim is the village and Wisselbrunnen is the vineyard name. It fairly dances on the tongue with off-dry flavours of caramel and grapefruit and a floral grace note. You'll find it at Vintages for $17.95 a bottle. That's Schloss Reinhartshausen Hattenheimer Wisselbrunnen Riesling Kabinett 2009 from Germany. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($17.95, Vintages #114801)
