Château des Charmes St. David's Bench Aligoté 2010 (Ontario)
$13.55 (LCBO #296848)
If you're looking for a change from Chardonnay, try another Burgundian grape variety called Aligoté. Only this Aligoté is grown in on our back yard – at Château des Charmes in Niagara. Their 2010 Aligoté is a pale lemon colour with an earthy, apple and peach bouquet and a citrus note. The wine is medium-bodied, crisply dry, full on the palate and mouth-filling. ****½ (89)
Food match: seafood salad; chicken salad

François Lurton Janeil Cabernet Sauvignon (Languedoc-Roussillon)
$11.95 (LCBO #293076)
François Lurton has a knack for making inexpensive wines around the world that taste just great. His latest offering from the Languedoc-Roussillon is Janeil Cabernet Sauvignon 2011. The wine is deep ruby-purple in colour with a bouquet of cedar, blackcurrant and bramble berry. The taste is savoury, herbal and dry with a floral note. ****(87)
Food match: BBQ burgers; pizza

Dezzani Morelli Moscato d'Asti 2010 (Piedmont)
$14.95 (LCBO #187997)
This wine will make you think of summer. Light straw colour with a frothy rim; orange blossom, cardamom nose; light-bodied, medium sweet, perfumed orange and peach flavours. Clean, lingering finish with a touch of bitterness at the end. Enough acidity to keep it in balance. **** (88)
Food match: aperitif; fresh berries
