Peninsula Ridge Chardonnay 2002 (Niagara Peninsula, Ontario)

Twelve percent of this wine was aged in oak to give it more heft. Straw colour; apple with a hint of oak; clean, well extracted fruit, crisp and minerally with a touch of sweetness in the middle palate. Good value. ***˝
Food match: trout with almonds, roast Cornish hen

Henry of Pelham Riesling Reserve 2002 (Niagara Peninsula, Ontario)

This wine speaks to the ripeness of the 2002 vintage as a whole. Pale straw colour; minerally, grapefruit and kiwi nose; medium-bodied, fresh and lively with a light spritz, lime and green peach flavours. Good length. ****
Food match: grilled scallops, spaghetti alle vongole

Light straw colour with an active mousse. Yeasty apple and pear aromas on the nose; full on the palate with a dry, green apple and bready flavour. Persistent and refreshing. ****
