Straw-coloured with a a complex nose of oak spice, forest floor, apple and vanilla. Full-bodied, mouth-filling with spicy, toasty, pineapple flavours. Good length. ****½ (89)

Roger & Didier Raimbault Sancerre 2011 (Loire)

Light straw in colour with a greenish tint; spicy, grassy, gooseberry nose with some vanilla oak notes. Dry, elegant, beautifully balanced with lively acidity. Lovely mouth feel with rich gooseberry and elderberry flavours. ***** (91)

Château Maison Neuve 2009 (Bordeaux)

From the Blaye region. Deep ruby colour with a nose of blackcurrants and cedar; medium-bodied, soft mouth feel but firmly structured. Dry and surprisingly elegant for the price. **** (88)
