The Sweet. Sparkling. Sensational! Experience

Select wineries of the Twenty Valley have come together to launch the Sweet. Sparkling. Sensational! Experience. This one-of-a-kind wine, spirit and culinary tasting will inform guests, delight their senses and give guests a look into the exciting world of winemaking and distilling. The experience will run on Saturday, January 19, 2013 and costs $60.00 +hst. There are two Sweet. Sparkling. Sensational! experiences to choose from, each experience includes four winery tours and shuttle service between each stop.

Participating wineries include 13th Street Winery, Cave Spring Cellars, Dillon's Small Batch Distillers, Di Profio Wines, megalomaniac – John Howard Cellars of Distinction, Rockway Vineyards, Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery and The Foreign Affair Winery.

Experience Route 1:

Cave Spring Cellars – Sweet Experience
Join Cave Spring Cellar's co-founder and president Len Pennachetti for an informal chat on the unique style of their Riesling Indian Summer. Indulge your senses with a perfect pairing of this luscious Late Harvest wine with wild game meatballs prepared with wild blueberry, porcini mushrooms and caper aioli prepared by Chef Frank Romano of Inn On The Twenty Restaurant. In celebration of this wonderful variety, take home a Riesling Cooks cookbook and a VIP tour and tasting certificate for six.

13th Street Winery – Sparkling Experience
Join Chef Eva in 13th Street Winery's intimate Gallery Room for a hand crafted sparkling wine experience. Chef Eva has created a special dish to demonstrate the versatility of sparkling wine. Enjoy spiced cured salmon with pickled red onion, beets and pea shoots with a goat cheese mousse paired perfectly with the 2008 Premier Cuvée sparkling wine. Chef Eva has several years of experience in the kitchen and is excited to speak about this wonderful pairing and the history of sparkling wine production at 13th Street Winery. Each guest will also receive a gift certificate for a private Cuvée Tasting for 6 guests held in the Gallery Room.

Di Profio Wines – Sense-ational Blend Experience
Join Di Profio's winemaker, Fred Di Profio, and owners, Carollynn and Joe, in creating our 2011 Cabernet/Merlot blend to be released in Spring 2013. You will be a part of making this important decision by participating in a blind tasting of a variety of blends of this great wine. You will help to decide on the final result. Each participant will receive a certificate of participation in this tasting experience. Then enjoy a special pairing, prepared by our resident foodie, Sharon Pleau, to accompany these blends as well as tastings of the full portfolio of Di Profio Wines.

Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery – Sensational Experience
Join Sue-Ann Staff for a Sensational Tasting of Rieslings exploring how Riesling can be considered the most versatile grape on the planet. Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery is quickly becoming known as a leading Riesling producer crafting the wines in a wide variety of styles. Here, we will see Riesling as a sparkling wine, three different sweetness levels with various stories of origin, aged and decadent (Icewine). In total, you will taste six wines seated at the dining room table and you will enjoy a small food pairing.

Experience Route 2:

The Foreign Affair Winery – Exclusive Appassimento tasting with Len & Marisa Crispino
The Foreign Affair Winery is happy to host you to delight in an unforgettable winery tour and tasting. The winery offers superb innovative wines, both red & white, inspired by the Italian Amarone (appassimento) process. Join winery owners, Len & Marisa Crispino, in the barrel room for a private group tasting experience accompanied by some spuntini. Len and Marisa will provide an explanation of the winery history and their unique introduction of appassimento wine production. Each guest will receive a tasting of 3 partial appassimento wines and a tasting of the signature wine, 100% appassimento Cabernet Franc.

Rockway Vineyards – The Art and Methods of Blending – Your way
Step into the winemakers' boots at Rockway Vineyards to learn the art and methods of blending. Start your Rockway experience exploring their antique wine museum, the museum includes rare winemaking artifacts. Rockway will then provide you with glassware and tools to measure and create you own blends of wines. Using 3–4 barrel samples you will make your own perfect blend. Rockway's wine experts will discuss methods of blending and what each wine contributes to creating a perfect blend. Finish your experience with a tasting of Rockway's Cabernet Sauvignon Icewine perfectly paired with a small dish from Windows on Rockway Restaurant.

megalomaniac – John Howard Cellars of Distinction – The Barrel Method
Join Megalomaniac for a tour in their barrel cellar and receive a lesson on the influences of barrel styles. Enjoy barrel tastings while you review several different barrels sizes, dimensions and toastings and learn how the wine is influenced by simple barrels styles. Nosh on charcuterie, this will help to balance and refresh your plate from tannin.

Dillon's Small Batch Distillers – Not Your Average Wine Experience
Come visit Canada's newest small batch distillery and the first one in the Niagara Region. They will be offering an experience to provide you with the background of distilling, a tour of our facilities including a demonstration of distilling. This is followed by an introduction to some new cocktail drinks by a noted mixologist. This is definitely not your average wine experience but an introduction to the world of artisan distilling.

The Sweet. Sparkling. Sensational! Experience runs 11:00 am until 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, and costs $60.00 +hst. Shuttles will leave from the Twenty Valley Tourism Office, 4890 Victoria Ave. N., Vineland, ON, L0R 2E0. Guests can purchase their experience tickets by visiting a participating winery or by contacting Twenty Valley Tourism office at 905-562-363 or by ordering online at www.twentyvalley.ca.
