680News wine reviews – February 15–17, 2013

Bellingham Chardonnay Viognier 2010 (Franschhoek Valley)
Today's recommendation is an interesting white blend from South Africa. Bellingham Chardonnay Viognier 2010 is light straw in colour with a green tint. It has a leesy, apple and pineapple nose with a touch of oak; it's full in the mouth, rich and spicy with pineapple and orange flavours and a fine spine of acidity that gives length to the wine. And it's really good value at $13.95. Match it with roast chicken or crab salad. That's Bellingham Chardonnay Viognier 2010 from South Africa. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 68 News.com. ($13.95, Vintages #295345)

Viña San Esteban In Situ Signature Chardonnay/Viognier 2011
From Chile's Aconcagua Valley is a wine called In Situ Signature Chardonnay/Viognier 2011. It's golden straw in colour, which suggests a full-bodied, fruit-driven wine. Its buttery, peach and spicy oak nose replicates on the palate with flavours of ripe peach, mango and pineapple and a creamy mouth feel. It costs $15.95 at Vintages outlets. A wine that can stand up to lobster and butter chicken. That's In Situ Signature Chardonnay/Viognier 2011 from Chile at Vintages stores. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News and 680News.com. ($15.95, Vintages #311746)
