Stadt Krems Steinterrassen Riesling 2011 (Kremstal, Austria)
$16.95 (Vintages #70987)
Austrian Riesling is more like Alsace Riesling than German. Pale straw colour with a minerally, citrus nose and white flower notes; medium-bodied, great balance of acidity and residual sugar; dry, fresh and lively with pear and grapefruit flavours. **** (88)
Food match: tuna tartar; mushroom quiche

F. Tinel-Blondelet L'Arrêt Buffatte Pouilly-Fumé 2010 (Loire)
$22.95 (Vintages #169730)
One of the best P-Fs to come through Vintages in a long time. Light straw colour; elderberry, grassy nose; full-bodied and crisply dry with gooseberry and lemon flavours. Mouth-filling and elegant. ***** (90)
Food match: grilled fish; camembert

Miguel Torres Mas Borràs Pinot Noir 2009 (Penedés, Spain)
$34.95 (Vintages #673483)
I'd put this up against a red Burgundy at twice the price. Deep ruby colour; spicy nose of raspberry jam and vanilla oak. Medium-bodied, elegant, well extracted fruit flavours with a savoury, spicy finish. Still tight needs 2–3 years. ***** (90)
Food match: duck breast; veal chop
