680News wine reviews – March 29–31, 2013

Chateau de Treviac 2010
The Corbieres region in southern France offers good value reds. The March 29th Vintages release includes Chateau de Treviac 2010, a blend of Syrah and Grenache. It's dense purple in colour with a nose of white pepper and boysenberry; It's sweet and juicy initially on the palate but finishes dry with licorice and herbal notes. It costs $15.95 at Vintages. Try it with red meat dishes. That's Chateau de Treviac 2010 from France at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com ($15.95, Vintages #670505)

Rosewood Natalie's Sussreserve Riesling 2010
An interesting wine from Ontario, released on March 29th at Vintages: Rosewood Natalie's Süssreserve Riesling 2010. Süssreserve is a winemaking technique that originated in Germany. Unfermented Riesling juice is added back to the wine before bottling to add sweetness and complexity. This wine has a honeyed apple and grapefruit nose; it's off-dry with a flavour of honey and peaches. It costs $14.95 at Vintages outlets. Serve it with pork dishes or Thai food. That's Rosewood Natalie's Süssreserve Riesling 2010 from Ontario. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com ($14.95, Vintages #258806)
