Miguel Torres Santa Digna Estelado Sparkling Brut
A good way to welcome this belated spring is to open a bottle of Miguel Torres Santa Digna Estelado Sparkling Brut from Chile. Made from the Pais grape – the grape first planted by Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century – this light pink sparkler has flavours of sour cherry and blood orange. It's beautifully dry and refreshing. It costs $19.95 at Vintages outlets. Drink it as an aperitif or with seafood appetizers. That's Miguel Torres Santa Digna Estelado Sparkling Brut from Chile. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($19.95, Vintages #317669)

Loan Wines Unwooded Special Reserve Semillon 2004
Occasionally I'm surprised by a wine. I'm familiar with Australia's Hunter Valley Semillon and how well it ages but I wasn't aware that the grape would behave the same in the Barossa Valley. Loan Wines Unwooded Special Reserve Semillon 2004 is a stunning wine for $15.95 at Vintages. It's neon yellow in colour with a nose of butternuts and Mirabelle plum. It's dry and full-bodied, oily on the palate with rich, toasty nutty flavours and great length. Try it with smoked trout. That's Loan Wines Unwooded Special Reserve Semillon 2004 from Australia at vintages out lets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($15.95, Vintages #301127)
