Lua Nova em Vinhas Velhas 2010
Portugal's Douro Valley, historically known for its vintage ports, is making a name for itself these days with its red table wines that offer great value. Lua Nova em Vinhas Velhas 2010, made from a field blend of old vines, is dense purple in colour with a nose of spicy black berries; it's full-bodied, powerful wine – dry and fruity with earthy note, firmly structured with ripe tannins. It sells at Vintages outlets for $14.95. It makes a great BBQ wine for spicy meat dishes. That's Lua Nova em Vinhas Velhas 2010 from Portugal at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($14.95, Vintages #266882)

Yvon Mau Colombard Chardonnay 2012
A blend of Colombard and Chardonnay is not your usual French wine. But Yvon Mau makes such a blend in the Côte de Gascogne region and it's a bargain priced white. Pale straw in colour, it has a nose of passion fruit; it's soft on the palate with grassy, passion fruit and apple flavours and citrus acidity. It costs and affordable $8.95 at the LCBO. Match it with grilled scallops or a goat's cheese salad. That's Yvon Mau Colombard Chardonnay 2012 from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($8.95, LCBO #627265)
