Wildass Red 2011
The Ontario winery Stratus has emulated the Bordeaux chateaux by having a second less costly label. They call it Wildass. Currently at vintages is Wildass Red – a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Tannat, and it's the best Wildass Red yet. Deep ruby in colour, it offers a nose of cedar and red and blackcurrants. It's a medium-bodied wine, dry with well extracted fruit and a herbal note on the finish. It costs $19.95 at Vintages. Serve it with barbecued meats. That's Wildass Red 2011 from Ontario. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($19.95, Vintages #86363)

Château Tour de Calens 2009
Château Tour de Calens 2009 is a well-priced white Bordeaux from a great vintage. This blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon is deep straw in colour with a spicy, toasty nose of apples; it's full on the palate, well balanced and forward with nicely integrated oak. A very versatile food wine. You'll find it at Vintages outlets for $19.95. It's a style of wine that you can serve with roast chicken or with grilled fish. That's Château Tour de Calens 2009 from France at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($19.95, Vintages #321323)
