Callia Alta Shiraz Rosé 2012 (Argentina)
$10.90 (LCBO #318022)
Here's a buxom, well-priced rosé from Argentina's Valle de Tulum. This quaffable rosé is deep blood orange-pink in colour; it has a cherry pit nose and is full-bodied and dry with the flavour of cherries and a smoky note. **** (88)
 Food match: charcuterie; cold chicken

Southbrook Connect Organic Red 2011 (Ontario)
$15.95, LCBO #249565)
A classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is ruby-purple in colour with a bouquet of cedar, tobacco, and currants with evident oak; it's medium-bodied, with cherry and blackcurrant flavours and a floral lift on the finish. It has lively acidity with chewy tannins. **** (88)
Food match: lamb

Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 (California)

The Paso Robles region produces some powerful red wines at prices lower than Napa and Sonoma. This wine is a deep ruby colour. The nose is cedary, black fruits with a floral top note; medium to full-bodied, remarkably elegant for the price with a tannic lift on the finish. ****½ (89)
Food match: BBQ meats
