680News wine reviews – October 25–27, 2013

Alvaro Palacios Camins del Priorat 2011
Alvaro Palacios is one of the most talented winemakers in Spain's Priorat region. Currently at vintages outlets is his opulent and fleshy Camins del Priorat 2011 – a blend of Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The wine is dense ruby in colour with a nose of black fruits, leather, spice, iodine and a floral top note. It's full-bodied and dry with ripe plum and black cherry flavours and a lively spine of acidity. It costs $22.95. Just the wine for pepper steak. That's Alvaro Palacios Camins del Priorat 2011 from Spain. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($22.95, Vintages #216291)

MacMurray Ranch Chardonnay 2011
The late Hollywood actor Fred MacMurray once owned a ranch in California's Russian River Valley. Now owned by Gallo, they make some delicious wines there. MacMurray Ranch Chardonnay 2011, available at Vintages outlets, is light straw colour; with smoky, nutty, toasty bouquet. On the palate, it's spicy, rich and sweet with a peachy, toasty note; full-bodied and lingering. It costs $22.95 a bottle. Match it with grilled pork or BBQ chicken. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($22.95, Vintages #262063)
