680News wine reviews – November 29–December 1, 2013

Jean Geiler Muscat Reserve Particulere 2011
Muscat is one of those wines that you either love or hate. It's highly perfumed with notes of cardamom and orange blossom and it can be either sweet or dry. In Alsace they make it dry and I happen to love it. Jean Geiler Muscat Reserve Particulere 2011, currently at the LCBO, has that wonderful grapey, orange blossom nose and flavour that finishes dry. It costs $14 and is the kind of wine you can drink as an aperitif or with exotic Thai dishes or sweet and sour Chinese cuisine. That's Jean Geiler Muscat Reserve Particulere 2011 from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($14.00, LCBO #320440)

Moselland Ars Vitis Riesling Winter Scene 2012
Today's recommendation is an old-style German Riesling in a new package at a price that is very reasonable. Moselland Ars Vitis Riesling 2012 is pale straw in colour with typical off-dry Riesling aromas of lime and honey. The wine is light and medium-bodied with good length. And the price? $9.95 a bottle. It would work well with pork dishes or as a sipping wine before dinner. That's Moselland Ars Vitis Riesling Winter Scene 2012 from Germany. And the bottle is suitably wintery-looking too. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($9.95, LCBO #589929)
