680News wine reviews – January 17–19, 2014

Joseph Cattin Gewurztraminer 2011
For Gewurztraminer lovers there's a terrific example from Alsace just released at Vintages. And at a great price. Joseph Cattin Gewurztraminer 2011 is quintessential Alsace Gewurz. Golden straw in colour, it has an intensely perfumed nose of rose petal, cardamom, and jasmine. It's full-bodied, off-dry, with the flavour of Turkish delight and a lovely mouth feel. It costs $17.95. Serve it with Thai dishes or Munster cheese. That's Joseph Cattin Gewurztraminer 2011 from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. (($17.95, Vintages #224626)

Jacob's Creek Reserve Chardonnay 2010
Here's a tasty Chardonnay from Australia's Adelaide Hills – Jacob's Creek Reserve Chardonnay 2010. Straw coloured with a hint of lime, it has bouquet of apple, pear and citrus. On the palate it's medium-bodied, with nicely balanced orchard fruit flavours that fill the mouth. Good value at $14.95. Try it with grilled fish or roast fowl. That's Jacob's Creek Reserve Chardonnay 2010 from Australia. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($14.95, LCBO #270017)
