680News wine reviews – January 24–26, 2014

Mönchhof Robert Eymael Riesling 2011
Just released at Vintage is a classic Mosel Riesling at a great price. Mönchhof Robert Eymael Riesling 2011 is very pale lime in colour with a classic petrol, honey and pear nose. Light-bodied, off-dry and spritzy on the tongue, it's elegant and beautifully balanced. It costs $16.95. Drink it on its own or with light curried dishes. Mönchhof Robert Eymael Riesling 2011 from Germany at vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com ($16.95, Vintages #349431)

Domaine de l'Arjolle Zinfandel 2011
You'd expect a wine labelled Zinfandel would come from California but Domaine de l'Arjolle Zinfandel 2011 is actually from the Languedoc in southern France. In fact, the only Zinfandel in France. Dense purple in colour, this full-bodied wine at Vintages for $19.95 has a plummy, herbal, cardamom nose. Smoky blackberry flavours explode on the palate with vanilla oak notes. A real mouthful, hearty enough to stand up to pepper steak. That's Domaine de l'Arjolle Zinfandel 2011 from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($19.95, Vintages #346072)
