Château des Arroucats Sainte Croix du Mont 2010
Here's the perfect wine for Valentine's Day that you can share with your lady friends. I say that advisedly because it's a sweet wine that comes in 750 mL format rather than the usual half bottle. It's Château des Arroucats Sainte Croix du Mont 2010 on the LCBO's general list. A botrytis-affected wine from Bordeaux, it's very pale in colour with an unctuous nose of peach and honey; full-bodied on the palate, it has an intriguing flavour of barley sugar candies. It costs a very reasonable $17.30 a bottle. Serve it chilled with fruit-based desserts. That's Château des Arroucats Sainte Croix du Mont 2010 from Bordeaux. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($17.30, LCBO #332593)

L'Arjolle Sauvignon Blanc-Viognier 2012
Two weeks ago I recommended a Zinfandel from a producer in the Languedoc called L'Arjolle. Well, the LCBO has just listed a white wine from this winery – L'Arjolle Sauvignon Blanc-Viognier 2012. Pale straw in colour the wine has a minerally, floral nose of lychee and gooseberry – flavours that replicate on the palate. It's medium-bodied, crisply dry, fresh and lively on the palate. It costs $11.95 and makes a good pairing with Caesar salad or goat's cheese. That's L'Arjolle Sauvignon Blanc-Viognier 2012 from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($11.95, LCBO #348904)
