680News wine reviews – February 14–16, 2014

Strewn Terroir Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Here's a tasty white wine from Ontario currently at Vintages outlets: Strewn Terroir Sauvignon Blanc 2011. It's straw-coloured with a nose of lanolin, cut grass and grapefruit zest; on the palate, medium-bodied, dry, grassy, gooseberry and grapefruit flavours predominate. Very fresh and lively with zesty acidity and perfect for seafood dishes. That's Strewn Terroir Sauvignon Blanc 2011 from Ontario. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com ($17.95, currently on sale for $14.25, Vintages #343897)

Mountadam Estate Chardonnay 2009
If you are willing to spend $25 on an Australian Chardonnay currently at Vintages, buy this one because it's amazing: Mountadam Estate Chardonnay 2009 from the Eden Valley. Straw colour with a hint of green, it has a spicy, toasty nose; it's full on the palate with richly extracted flavours of peach and pineapple backed by vanilla oak. It's one of the best Chardonnays I've tasted from Australia. Serve it with roast chicken or pork. That's Mountadam Estate Chardonnay 2009 from Australia – at Vintages outlets for $24.95. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($24.95, Vintages #333211)
