7th Annual Fiesta Buckhorn

The 7th Annual Fiesta Buckhorn will take place on Saturday, July 19 from 1 pm to 8 pm at the Buckhorn Community Centre. Visitors will have the chance to sample the wares of award-winning wineries, breweries and local area chefs and restaurants - all in one place. As well, this year, there will be a number of special interest exhibitors, including the Ontario Provincial Police, the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, the RCMP and the Central Ontario Viniculture Association.

Dr. Bob Niver, one of the founders of Fiesta Buckhorn and an active participant on the volunteer organizing committee, is proud of the success of the event. "What began as an idea to raise money for the community centre has really taken off! This year, we expect even more beverage exhibitors," he says.

For an admission fee of $10 per person, each Fiesta visitor gets a keepsake wineglass for sampling and six free sampling tickets. As well, there are additional sampling tickets available at the price of two for a dollar. Depending on the beverage or food item, a pre-determined number of sampling tickets will be required.

"The profits from the show go directly to the Buckhorn Community Centre," continues Niver. "It's an innovative way to raise money for a great facility."

This year's event will also feature free informational seminars about wine:

  • 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm: "Everything You Need To Know About White/Red Wine" conducted by Richard Best, member, Wine Writers Circle of Canada
  • 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm: "Fun with Wine" conducted by Cathy Ruggieri Davidson, a product consultant with the LCBO

Of course, there will be free entertainment provided throughout the day by Felix and the Swing Cats, the Mike Graham Trio and the Dr. Bruce Evans Jazz Trio.

For more information about Fiesta Buckhorn, visit www.littlefatwino.com or call the Buckhorn Community Centre at 705-657-8833. The Buckhorn Community Centre is located on Lakehurst Road, 1 kilometer west of the lights in Buckhorn.
