680News wine reviews – June 6–8, 2014

Don Sebastiani & Sons The Crusher Viognier 2012
Viognier is Chardonnay's exhibitionist cousin. It's an aromatic grape that shows at lot of flesh. A good example Don Sebastiani & Sons The Crusher Viognier 2012 from California newly released at Vintages at $16.95. The wine is pale lemon in colour with a minerally, floral, nose of ripe peaches. Expect full-bodied, dry, richly extracted flavours of white peach and honeysuckle. Great value at $16.95. Serve it with BBQ chicken or pork burgers. That's Don Sebastiani & Sons The Crusher Viognier 2012 from California at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($16.95, Vintages #361964)

Viticoltori Aquesi Brachetto d'Acqui
Viticoltori Aquesi Brachetto d'Acqui is the perfect summer sparkler. This foaming, light ruby-coloured wine made in Piemonte is off-dry with cherry and rose petal flavours, refreshing and easy drinking with a mere 6.5% alcohol. It costs $13.35 at the LCBO. A wine for sipping on the patio when the BBQ heats up. That s Viticoltori Aquesi Brachetto d'Acqui from Italy. For Post City Magazines I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($13.35, LCBO #375667)
