680News wine reviews – June 13–15, 2014

Don David Reserve Torrontes 2012
The highly perfumed Torrontes grape is a specialty of Argentina and is one of the most seductive of wines. Newly released at Vintages is Don David Reserve Torontes 2012. Very pale in colour with a lime tint, the wine has an intense orange blossom and peach nose with dry orange peel, ginger and lavender flavours. It costs a bargain $13.95 a bottle. Try it as an aperitif or with spicy Thai or curried dishes. That's Don David Reserve Torrontes 2012 from Argentina. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($13.95, Vintages #727677)

Volcanes de Chile Pomerape Limited Edition Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Here's a well-priced Sauvignon Blanc from Chile that makes a perfect partner for goat's cheese or shellfish: Volcanes de Chile Pomerape Limited Edition Sauvignon Blanc 2011. Pale straw in colour, it offers an intense nose of asparagus and nettles. The flavour is all gooseberries and cut grass riding on lively acidity to a green guava finish. It costs $14.95 a bottle at Vintages outlets. That's Volcanes de Chile Pomerape Limited Edition Sauvignon Blanc 2011. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($14.95, Vintages #371138)
