680News wine reviews – August 1–3, 2014

Loan Wines Special Reserve Semillon 2005
A very different style of wine from Australia is aged Semillon. Tomorrow Vintages is releasing Loan Wines Special Reserve Semillion 2005, an unoaked wine from the Barossa Valley which is great values at $16.95. Lemon yellow in colour, the wine has an intriguing nose of lanolin and peach wit a note of petrol. The mature flavour is peach and citrus , beautifully balanced with good length. A wine for grilled fish or pork. That's Loan Wines – spelled L.O.A.N. – Special Reserve Semillon 2005. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com ($16.95, Vintages #301127)

Baron de Hoen Reserve Gewurztraminer 2012
For lovers of Alsace Gewurztraminer there's a delicious example that's being released tomorrow in Vintages: Baron de Hoen Reserve Gewurztraminer 2012. Very pale in colour, it has an intense nose of lychee and rose water. It's dry and highly perfumed with flavours of Turkish Delight, orange and cardamom. It costs $17.95 at Vintages outlets. A wine for Oriental food or just to sip and contemplate. That's Baron de Hoen Reserve Gewurztraminer 2012 from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com ($17.95, Vintages #377721)
