Calmel & Joseph Villa Blanche Chardonnay 2012 (Pays d'Oc)
$13.80 (LCBO #375071)
Golden straw colour, a nose of apples with a nutty note, the wine has well extracted apple and pear flavours with good texture; medium to full-bodied with nicely balanced lemony acidity. Good value. **** (88)
Food match: roast chicken; Brie

Château de Treviac 2011 (Corbières, France)
$17.95 (LCBO #670505)
A blend of Syrah and Grenache. Dense ruby-purple in colour, it offers a bouquet of tobacco, cocoa and spicy cedar; it's full-bodied with beautifully balanced sweet fruit, a velvety mouth feel and flavours of dark chocolate and black fruits. ****½ (89)
Food match: BBQ meats; fresh parmesan

Wildass Riesling 2012 (Ontario)
$16.96 (Vintages #129700)
Wildass is the second label of Ontario's Stratus winery. Winemaker J.L. Groulx makes a very fine Riesling under this label. Light straw colour with an intriguing bouquet of grapefruit, lime and petrol. On the palate it's all honey and grapefruit flavours. A beautifully made Riesling . **** (88)
Food match: pork dishes; Asian cuisine
