680News wine reviews – August 29–31, 2014

Arrocal 2012
Spain's Ribera del Duero region produces some of the best Tempanillo wines. Vintages is currently carrying a wine called Arrocal 2012. It's dense purple in colour with a nose of blackberries and spicy oak. The full-bodied, black fruit flavours billow on the palate, held together by a spine of acidity. Drinking well now, it will improve with age. It costs $17.95 at Vintages outlets. Serve with red meat dishes. That's Arrocal 2012 from Spain. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($17.95, Vintages #67868)

Undurraga Estate Pinot Noir 2013
Chile does it again! A very drinkable Pinot Noir for less than $10. Undurraga Estate Pinot Noir 2013 from the Maipo Valley is light ruby in colour. The nose is a mix of sour cherry and smoke with a mineral note, flavours that repeat on the mid-weight palate. It costs $9.95 at the LCBO. For best results decant this wine into a jug before serving. Serve it with hamburgers or pizza. That's Undurraga Estate Pinot Noir 2013 from Chile. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($9.95, LCBO #358945)
