Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier Dom Riesling Kabinett 2011
The wines I enjoy most without food are German Rieslings of Kabinett or Spätlese quality. There's a delicious example currently at Vintages outlets. The name is as much of a mouthful as the wine itself: Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier Dom Riesling Kabinett 2011 from the Mosel. It has a minerally, floral, grapefruit nose with an off-dry flavour of honeyed peach and citrus fruits. It's beautifully balanced and fairly dances on the palate with a faint spritz. It costs $18.95. That's Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier Dom Riesling Kabinett 2011 from Germany. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($18.95, Vintages #378828)
Chakana Malbec 2013
This is beginning to sound like the stuck record, but here's another good value Malbec from Argentina: Chakana Malbec 2013 currently at Vintages outlets, selling for $14.95. The wine is dense ruby in colour, redolent with plum and blackberry aromas on the nose, backed by oak spice. It fills the mouth with lively flavours of black stone-fruits. Another ideal BBQ wine, or try it with aged cheddar. That's Chakana Malbec 2013 from Argentina's Mendoza Valley. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($14.95, Vintages #3509)
