Vidal Fleury Domaine de Vieille Fontaine Côtes du Rhône Villages 2012 (France)
$17.95 (Vintages #393215: to be released on Saturday, Nov. 8.)
Vidal-Fleurie is one of a great producers of the Rhone Valley whose red wines have a layered complexity. This wine is dense purple in colour, showing a nose of blackberries and wild herbs with floral grace note. Dry and elegant with a lovely mouth-feel it has a rich flavour of blackberries and black licorice. Great value. ***** (90)
Food match: hearty winter stews; pepper steak.

Zonin Prosecco Brut (Veneto)
($14.95, LCBO #250480)
Zonin is a large northern Italian winery, still in family hands, that produces a range of wines mainly in Veneto and Tuscany. I was particularly taken with their Prosecco Brut, which is great value for the price. It`s soft and creamy on the palate with melon and pear flavours. Very easy drinking. A wine to serve before a meal or at party celebrations. **** (88)

Familia Garces Silva Boya Sauvignon Blanc 2013 (Chile)
$14.95 (Vintages #389726, to be released Saturday, Nov. 8)
A stunning example of cool climate Leyda Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Pale straw in colour with a grassy nose of elderberries and gooseberries. Medium-bodied, crisply dry and elegant with mouth-watering acidity. Great value. ***** (90)
Food match: goat's cheese; seafood ceviche
