680News wine reviews – November 14–16, 2014

Zonin Prosecco Brut
Zonin is a large northern Italian winery, still in family hands, that produces a range of wines mainly in Veneto and Tuscany. I was particularly taken with their Prosecco Brut, which is great value for the price. It costs $14.95 on the general list. It's soft and creamy on the palate with melon and pear flavours. Very easy drinking. A wine to serve before a meal or at party celebrations. That's Zonin Prosecco Brut from Italy. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($14.95, LCBO #250480)

Menguante Seleccion Garnacha 2008
Spain is producing some very stylish red wines at affordable prices these days. Currently at Vintages is Vinedos Y Bodegas Pablo Menguante Seleccion Garnacha 2008 from the Cariñena district of Aragon. The wine is deep purple in colour with a high-toned nose of spicy raspberries and cedar. On the palate it's dry with savoury flavours of black cherries and tobacco with a firm tannic finish. It costs $16.95. Serve it with red meat dishes. That's Vinedos Y Bodegas Menguante Seleccion Garnacha 2008 from Spain. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($16.95, Vintages #313833)
