680News wine reviews – November 28–30, 2014

Domaine La Haute Févrie Muscadet Sèvre-&-Maine 2013
Muscadet from the Loire Valley is a very versatile food wine and it's great value compared with the neighbouring Sauvignon Blanc of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. Currently at Vintages outlets is Domaine La Haute Févrie Muscadet Sèvre-&-Maine 2013. Pale straw in colour with a nose of grapefruit rind and green apple, it opens on the palate to flavours of green pear and almond. It's medium-bodied and fresh and lively and at $13.95 the perfect partner for oysters or shrimp in tomato sauce. That's Domaine La Haute Févrie Muscadet Sèvre-&-Maine 2013 from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler for 680News and 680News.com. ($13.95, Vintages #390625)

Lustau East India Solera Sherry
Sherry, I am delighted to report, is making a comeback – and high time too. Currently at Vintage is a Cream sherry that really set my tastebuds rocking. Lustau East India Solera Sherry is brown in colour with an olive green rim. The bouquet is hazelnuts and dried figs. It's unctuous and sweet on the palate with honey, malt and orange peel flavours that linger forever. It costs $22.95 for the 500 mL bottle. Chill it lightly and serve it with nuts or orange cake. That's Lustau East India Solera Sherry from Spain at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler for 680News and 680News.com. ($22.95 for 500 mL, Vintages #342931)
