680News wine reviews – December 5–7, 2014

Sprucewood Shores Warm 'N Cozy Mulled Wine
Sprucewood Shores is a winery in the Lake Erie North Shore appellation and they've just released a wine at the LCBO to coincide with the cold, snowy weather. Sprucewood Shores Warm 'N Cozy Mulled Wine is ruby coloured with a nose of cinnamon and clove; it is sweet and spicy, and when heated to the desired temperature it'll make a good winter warmer. Don't look for elegant wine flavours here. It's all in the spicing. Sprucewood Shores Warm 'N Cozy Mulled Wine costs $11.95 a bottle. A wine for drinking outdoors – maybe in the hot tub. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler for 680News and 680News.com. ($11.95, LCBO #348524)

Familia Garces Silva Boya Sauvignon Blanc 2013
I am a big fan of the crisp, flavourful Sauvignons of Chile's Leda Valley. Currently at Vintages is Familia Garces Silva Boya Sauvignon Blanc 2013. Pale straw in colour with a grassy, gooseberry and elderberry nose, this medium-bodied wine is crisply dry and remarkably elegant with mouth-watering acidity. It costs $14.95. A great match with smoked salmon or ceviche. That's Familia Garces Silva Boya Sauvignon Blanc 2013 from Chile at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler for 680News and 680News.com. ($14.95, Vintages #389726)
