680News wine reviews – February 6–8, 2015

Alamos Torrontes
Argentina can lay claim to a unique grape variety called Torrontes. It's very much like a dry Muscat in style in that it has a highly perfumed bouquet of honeysuckle and ripe pears. A good example currently at Vintages outlets is The Wines of Catena Alamos Torrontes 2013. It's like biting into a Muscat grape straight out of the fridge. It costs $14.95 and makes a delicious aperitif wine or you can serve it with light curries or Asian dishes. That's Alamos Torrontes 2013 from Argentina. A good Valentine's Day wine. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($14.95, Vintages #81539)

Chateau de Montgueret Cremant de Loire Brut
If you're looking for a sparkling wine to celebrate St. Valentine's Day, try Chateau de Montgueret Cremant de Loire Brut. It's a well-made wine with a minerally nose of apple and pear, with a creamy mouth-feel and a crisply dry, clean citrusy finish. It costs $19.95 at LCBO stores. Open it to toast your lover, partner, spouse – or all three and if you've just broken up, drink it to commiserate. That's Chateau de Montgueret Cremant de Loire Brut from France. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($19.95, LCBO #217760)
