680News wine reviews – March 13–15, 2015

Abbazia Moscato d'Asti 2013
Moscato d'Asti is fizzy and frivolous but this fragrant, light-bodied wine from Piemonte is a secret pleasure, a wine that reminds me of summer. Currently at Vintages outlets is Abbazia Moscato d'Asti 2013 at the affordable price of $14.95. The wine is pale straw with a greenish tint. On the nose it's honey and acacia flowers. The palate is lightly sparkling, what the Italians call frizzante with a sweet, grapey taste. A refreshing aperitif or a wine for lemon cake. That's Abbazia Moscato d'Asti 2013 from Italy at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazine I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($14.95, Vintages #265397)

Weingut Zahel Riedencuvée Grüner Veltliner 2013
One of my favourite white wines to match with food is Austrian Grüner Veltliner. Currently at Vintages is Weingut Zahel Riedencuvée Grüner Veltliner 2013, selling for $16.95. Palest straw in colour with a minerally, white pepper and green peach bouquet, this Grüner Veltliner is medium-bodied, dry, and crisp with grapefruit and green peach flavours. A wine for scallops, pork or asparagus. That's Weingut Zahel Riedencuvée Grüner Veltliner 2013 from Austria. For Post City Magazine I'm Tony Aspler, 680News and 680News.com. ($16.95, Vintages #181594)
