680News wine reviews – April 10–12, 2015

Concha y Toro Winemaker's Lot 148 Carmenère 2012
It's rare that an international winery will make a wine exclusively for the Canadian market but that's what Chile's largest winery, Concha y Toro, has done with their Winemaker's Lot 148 Carmenère 2012. And, bonus, it's on a limited time offer at Vintages for $15.95 until April 26th, when it goes back up two bucks. Dense purple in colour, the nose is all blackcurrant and toasty oak. It's full-bodied, dry with blueberry and current flavours, juicy with lively acidity. Match it with red meat dishes. That's Concha y Toro Winemaker's Lot 148 Carmenère 2012 from Chile. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News. ($15.95 until Apr 26th – Limited Time Offer – then $17.95. Vintages #30957)

Château des Charmes Rosé Cuvée Andrée 2014
Believe it or not, there will be a summer and that means it'll be time to think pink and drink local. Château des Charmes Rosé Cuvée Andrée 2014 – named for the matriarch of the Bosc family – is deep pink I colour with a bluish tint. Strawberry and sweet rhubarb on the nose, it's medium-bodied, dry with a sour cherry and strawberry flavour and a fresh finish. It costs $14.95 at Vintages outlets. Try it with spicy seafood or as an aperitif. That's Château des Charmes Rosé Cuvée Andrée 2014 from Ontario. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News. ($14.95, Vintages #333260)
