Tokaj Kereskedohaz Grand Selection Tokaji Furmint 2012
Furmint is the Hungarian grape we usually associate with the sweet dessert wine Tokaj. But Hungarian vintners also make a dry version. In its table wine form it's a very serviceable, food-friendly wine. Tokaj Kereskedohaz Grand Selection Semi-Dry Tokaji Furmint 2012 is straw-coloured with a spicy, apricot nose lifted with a floral note; it's medium-bodied, off-dry, with a herbal, minerally flavour, finishing on a dried apricot note. It costs $16.95 at Vintages outlets. Try it with roast pork or gorgonzola. That's Tokaj Kereskedohaz Grand Selection Semi-Dry Tokaji Furmint 2012 from Hungary. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News. ($16.95, Vintages #396366)

Fuzion Shiraz Malbec
When the Argentinian Shiraz Malbec blend called Fuzion hit the LCBO shelves in 2006 it became a commercial sensation, at one point selling 1000 cases a day. From the initial offering the quality fell off a bit but now the wine is back on form and a real bargain in the 1500 mL format. Which makes it ideal for barbecue parties. The wine is deeply coloured with a nose of black cherries and raspberries, fruity but firm and gulpable. The 1500 mL size – that's two bottles' worth – costs $15.45 at the LCBO. A wine for red meat dishes. That's Fuzion Shiraz Malbec from Argentina. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News. ($15.45, LCBO #401323)
