680News wine reviews – June 12–14, 2015

Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay 2014
I'm always looking for bargains at the LCBO and here's one you won't want to miss. Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay 2014 is usually $14.95 a bottle but the price has dropped $2 until June 21st. This wine from Australia is pale straw in colour with a smoky, minerally nose, offering nectarine and citrus aromas broadened by oak and with enough acidity to make it interestingly dry and fresh on the palate. Serve it with roast chicken or grilled salmon. That's Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay 2014, a limited time offer from the LCBO. For Post City Magazine, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News. ($12.95, LCBO #226860)

Chateau St. Jean Sonoma County Chardonnay 2013
I'm a fan of Sonoma County Chardonnays. A good example at a decent price for a California wine is Chateau St. Jean Sonoma County Chardonnay 2013. It's straw coloured with a lime tint: spicy, citrus and apple with toasty oak notes on the nose, it's full-bodied, rich and full on the palate with peach and clove flavours that linger long in the mouth. It costs $18.95 on the general list. Try it with grilled tuna or a ripe Camembert. That's Chateau St. Jean Sonoma County Chardonnay 2013 from California at the LCBO. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News. ($18.95, LCBO #269738)
