680News wine reviews – August 21–23, 201

Mastronardi Casa Nostra Chardonnay 2013
If you haven't discovered the wines from Lake Erie North Shore, you're in for a treat. Here's a bargain-priced, unoaked Chardonnay from that region: Mastronardi Casa Nostra Chardonnay 2013. Pale straw in colour with a fresh, apple and apple blossom nose, it's medium-bodied and dry with an apple flavour carried on fresh grapefruit acidity. It costs $12.95 at the LCBO. Match it with grilled fish or a runny Brie. That's Mastronardi Casa Nostra Chardonnay 2013 from Lake Erie North Shore. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 News. ($12.95, LCBO #419911)

Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Here's a nifty Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon currently at Vintages outlets for just under $20. Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon 201 2 is dense ruby in colour with that characteristic Cabernet nose of blackcurrant, cedar and vanilla oak. It's medium-bodied, dry, well-structured with good fruit intensity in mid-palate. Serve it with lamb chops or roast quail. That's Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 from Washington State at Vintages for $19.95. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News. ($19.95, Vintages #269357)
