680News wine reviews – September 4–6, 2015

Vincente Gandia Nebla Verdejo 2014
Spanish red wines are all the rage now but don't forget about their whites. There are some really good value white wines coming out to the Rueda region. Currently at Vintages is Vincente Gandia Nebla Verdejo 2014. Straw coloured with an intense, aromatic bouquet of apricots and elderberries, this medium-bodied, crisply dry wine has flavours of mandarin and lemon. The good news is that it costs $14.95. Match it with seafood dishes or offer it as an aperitif wine. That's Vincente Gandia Nebla Verdejo 2014 from Spain at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680News. ($14.95, Vintages #422048)

Gehringer Brothers Dry Rock Vineyards Cabernet Merlot 2013
Gehringer Brothers is one of the oldest family-run estates in the Okanagan Valley. Currently at Vintages is their Dry Rock Vineyards Cabernet Merlot 2013. Its deep ruby colour speaks to well extracted fruit. The nose is all red and blackcurrants with oak spice and a floral grace note; it's medium-bodied, dry with spicy currant flavours and a hint of clove on the finish. It costs $19.95 at Vintages outlets. Perfect for lamb or any game bird. That's Gehringer Brothers Dry Rock Vineyards Cabernet Merlot 2013 from BC. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler 680News. ($19.95, Vintages #556001)
