680 NEWS wine reviews – December 11–13, 2015

Concha y Toro Marqués de Casa Concha Syrah 2012
Chile makes some outstanding Syrahs these days. Vintages is currently carrying Concha y Toro Marqués de Casa Concha Syrah 2012. Dense purple-black in colour with a spicy, herbal, savoury nose of mulberry and black plum, this tasty wine is full-bodied with sweet blackcurrant and plum flavours carried on lively acidity. Good value at $19.95. Serve it with osso buco or roast lamb. That's Concha y Toro Marqués de Casa Concha Syrah 2012, from Chile at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($19.95, Vintages #19042)

Vieux Château Landon 2010
My car license plate is CLARET which is what the British call red Bordeaux. Recently I tasted an old style claret that is now at Vintages: Vieux Château Landon 2010 from the Médoc has that characteristic cedar and blackcurrant bouquet with a lovely floral top note; medium-bodied, dry and elegant with rich mid-palate fruit this wine is beautifully balanced with some grip on the finish. The perfect wine for lamb dishes. It costs $21.95. That's Vieux Château Landon 2010 from Bordeaux at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($21.95, Vintages #431759)
