680 NEWS wine reviews – January 8–10, 2016

The Entertainer Red Blend
The Entertainer Red Blend from the Wolf Blass stable in South Australia is a mix of Grenache and Shiraz and it sells for $15.95 at LCBO outlets. It's a wine that fairly shouts flavour at you from the glass. Deeply coloured with a bouquet of black raspberries and plums, it's medium-bodied and dry, while being fruity and jammy on the palate with herbal notes. In other words, an easy drinking red that can match a range of meat dishes. That's The Entertainer Red Blend from Australia. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($15.95, LCBO #419994)

Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2014
Wither Hills in New Zealand's Marlborough region produces terrific Sauvignon Blanc. Currently at Vintages outlets is their 2014 vintage, a wine that's very pale in colour but has a really intense bouquet and flavour. On the nose, it's green pepper with honeyed lemon notes. On the full-bodied palate, you experience generous grapefruit and melon flavours with a crisp, lingering finish. It costs $19.95 at Vintages outlets. Serve it with fish dishes or goat's cheese. That's Wither Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2014 from New Zealand. For Post City Magazines I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($19.95, Vintages #919514)
