680 NEWS wine reviews – February 19–21, 2016

Templarios Colheita Selecionada Vinho Tinto 2012
Portugal contines to supply the world with great value red wines. Templarios Colheita Selecionada Vinho Tinto 2012, currently at Vintages outlets, is a blend of Castelao, Aragonez and Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep purple in colour, it shows ripe black plums on the nose, along with notes of cherry, raspberry and vanilla oak and a herbal note on the finish. It costs $14.95 at Vintages outlets and works well with beef stew or other meat-based casseroles. That's Templarios Colheita Selecionada Vinho Tinto 2012 from Portugal. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($14.95, Vintages #332981)

Tiago Cabaco Premium White Alentejo 2014
Here's another great value wine from Portugal. A white this time. Tiago Cabaco Premium White Alentejo 2014 is a blend of the local Antao, Vaz and Verdelho grapes with Viognier. It's light straw colour with a minerally, peach pit, lanolin nose. Medium-bodied and dry, it's full of flavour with green peach and green herb flavours and an engaging bitter almond finish. Good value at $14.95. Pair it with Caesar salad or runny cheeses. That's Tiago Cabaco Premium White Alentejo 2014 from Portugal at Vintages outlets. For Post City Magazines, I'm Tony Aspler, 680 NEWS. ($14.95, Vintages #429316)
